Bangalore, August 9, 2004 - Highlighting the concepts of ‘creativity’ and ‘style’ that have become
synonymous with the city of Bangalore, Bangalore Central in association with Institute of Baking & Cake Art,
is organising one-day Independence theme Cake Exhibition on the 15th August 2004 at Bangalore Central.
This unique 56th Independence Day celebrations would be the first of its kind in India. “Celebrating Freedom’
04” being the theme, the exhibition, is a depiction of our Freedom Movement, Cultural Heritage &
Independent India through the medium of cakes. With 101 cakes on display, an effort has been made to
refresh and re-create interest, enthusiasm and a quick run through our history. Keeping up with the
organization’s support to the have nots and underprivileged, Bangalore Central would be giving the entire
proceedings from the sale of these cakes for charity.
Usually when talking about cake exhibitions, most of us tend to think of huge gigantic cakes. The USP of the
exhibition would be the size of the cakes where the creators have created designs that can be made at
homes with a very less additional cost. Yet another eye-catching point would be that the entire cake would be
edible including the designs & decorations used in the cakes. The exhibition is a window, on the extensive
research done by a dedicated team on assimilating the information, designing and converting an idea into
this edible form. An amazing transformation of the acquired skills and abilities of students & staff of the
Institute into these miniature forms.
Of the various themes on display, one can visualize our National Symbols-Flag, Emblem, Flower, Bird;
Monuments- Red fort, Taj Mahal, Parliament House, Ajanta, Ellora Cave paintings; Festivals-like Holi,
Baisaki, Freedom Movement; India then-Mauryas, Gupta’s, Indus Valley; India Now-IT, Telecom, Media;
Defense-Army, Navy & Air Force; Culture & Heritage-Kajal, Saree, Jewellery, the Vedas, Languages and
many more.
